Go Green & Appreciate the Planet: 7 Ways to Reconnect with Nature This Spring

Paul Patterson

Time in isolation can be tough, but spring is here and nature has the power to ease some of isolation’s unpleasant side effects. Fortunately, it’s easy to go green and reconnect with the planet when spring has sprung.

Go Green & Appreciate the Planet: 7 Ways to Reconnect with Nature This Spring

Whether you prefer a relaxing hike through the woods or a meditative day at the beach, renewing your connection with nature can put your mind and body at ease.

Here are seven ways you can reconnect with nature this spring!

Go on a Wilderness Adventure

Getting outside and immersing yourself in nature is one of the surest ways to be reminded why it’s so important. Standing in the middle of a forest feels like an almost spiritual experience. With every breath, you’re actively breathing with the trees. For some, it feels as though they’re breathing for the first time.

However, you don’t need to travel to a remote forest to have this experience. Even just a walk through a local park can have this effect. As long as nature is present, you’ll interact and breathe with it.

Try Gardening

Additionally, gardening is a great way to go green and get closer to nature. Cultivating strong, healthy plants requires patience, consistency, and discipline, and eventually, your hard work pays off.

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as eating food you’ve grown yourself. Not only is it fresh and delicious, but it’s symbolic of the time and effort you put into nurturing it.

Renew Your Physical Connection

In some cases, physically reconnecting with nature — or grounding — may ease physical and psychological pain. Although the science behind grounding’s benefits is still being researched, it can still be used to connect with the earth.

By walking barefoot or lying on the ground, you physically reconnect your body with nature. You may also use this as an opportunity for mindful meditation to escape the noise of the world.

Explore the Beauty of Nature

Whether you’re witnessing a sunset at Pfeiffer Beach or taking in the vastness of the world from atop a mountain, nature’s beauty amazes and reminds us of nature’s power. Finding such scenery doesn’t require travel. You can find local breathtaking views wherever you may be.

Take Some Pictures

By documenting your time in nature, you can maintain your connection to it even when you’re at home. Using pictures as wall decor, computer backgrounds, and more serves as a reminder of the connection between humans and nature.

Furthermore, taking photos allows you to share your experiences with others. Pictures give people around the world the ability to appreciate nature’s beauty from thousands of miles away.

Practice Sustainability

As the clearest way to go green and reconnect with nature, sustainability offers ways to both enrich yourself and the planet. From practicing reduce, reuse, and recycle to eating in-season, everyone can live sustainably.

By making small changes, each of us can go green to affect environmental change and give back to a planet that’s given so much to us.

Do Something in or With the Water

Water makes up 70% of the planet and 60% of our bodies, so it’s only natural for us to be drawn to it. Sitting on a beach, venturing to a lake, or even taking in a rainy day provides a spiritual connection with the power to cleanse and purify.

Go Green & Reconnect With Nature

Spring is upon us which means that it’s the perfect time to get outside and renew our connection with nature. From gardening to hiking and from going green to capturing breathtaking scenes on film, there’s a way for everyone to renew that connection.
